Level Up was founded in 2016 by a group of experienced feminist campaigners from SumOfUs, 38 Degrees, AllOut, 350.org and Greenpeace. We have three staff members:
Carys joined Level Up from SumOfUs, where she was global Communications Director. Carys is a former Head of Communications at the New Economics Foundation and a former adviser to Labour MP Lisa Nandy. She co-founded istreetwatch.co.uk to track the rise racist and xenophobic street harassment in the wake of the EU referendum. Carys was recently named one of InStyle magazine’s Future 15. She is a Trustee of the End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW).
Bryony joined Level Up from 38 Degrees where she was responsible for 38 Degrees’ offline action team, getting a quarter of a million people from all walks of life involved in activism and campaigns training. Since 2013, she has also helped to build an award-winning social enterprise Mazi Mas, which provides training and employment to support women in the food industry, specifically chefs from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
Janey is a domestic violence expert, writer and experienced activist with a passion for clear communications and making campaigning fun.
Having spent three years taking grassroots direct action with Sisters Uncut whilst changing UK housing policy with Shelter, Janey knows how to strategically build a successful campaign and mobilise people to achieve change.
