DIGNITY FOR DEAD WOMEN

In consultation with a coalition of domestic violence experts and victims’ families, Level Up produced the UK’s first media guidelines on how to report domestic abuse deaths. They are endorsed by both press regulators IPSO and IMPRESS.

Level Up has trained over 500 journalists in how to report fatal domestic abuse, using our guidelines and a four-point acronym AIDA (Accountability, Images, Dignity, Accuracy).

If you are interested in booking a CPD-accredited training for yourself or your newsroom, please contact mediasupport@welevelup.org

Working with victims’ families, Level Up produced research into the impact of media reporting on families’ bereavement in the aftermath of a domestic abuse death. The majority of families who participated said their grieving process was negatively impacted by media reporting.
